Earth Hour is a campaign for global action on climate change. For one hour at 8:30 p.m. on March 28, 2009, the skylines of 74 cities in 62 countries will go dark as individuals, businesses, government, schools and landmarks turn of all non-essential lighting to create the largest climate event in history. Cities such as Chicago, London, Lisbon, San Francisco, Rome, Miami, Sydney, Oslo, Manila and Las Vegas are just a small sample of those that have signed up so far.

Many musicians have joined the cause. The musicians supporting Earth Hour 2009's goal are Gavin DeGraw, Rise Against, KT Tundstall, Finger Eleven, Simple Plan and Justin Nozuka
And what does Simple Plan say about Earth Hour 2009?

"We are proud to support Earth Hour 2009 on March 28th. Global warming and the devastating effects it has on our planet are among the most urgent and serious issues we face in the world today. It's up to us to do our share, evolve, adapt and change the way we live. On March 28th, we can all get involved by doing something extremely simple: turn off the lights! It's easy and a great way to send a message and let the world know that we care about the environment. We hope you'll join us and that you'll get involved!"
