| SP Foundation & CND Tour kick off this week!
Yesterday, me and the other guys in Simple Plan practiced what we preached; we’ve always said that when you are fortunate in life, the least you can do is give back a little to others who need it more than you do…so we did. Friends, family and colleagues who we work with, helped us put together a huge benefit to raise money (a lot of it) to help out organizations in our community who try to make this world a better place for the youth around us. Without getting too deep into the purpose of our foundation or why we put it together, let’s just say that, yesterday afternoon, we met a lot of amazing people who want to help youth find a purpose in life, a passion that can brighten their days . The people who gave money yesterday also want to leave a better world for the kids who are growing up and for the ones that are having a tough time getting through the awkwardness of the teenage years. I was amazed by the love and so much caring in that room. It meant a lot to me that so many people showed up. It was fantastic. It reminded me of that movie: “Pay It Forward”.
Tomorrow, we are starting our cross-canadian tour in St-John’s, Newfoundland. I am very excited about this since we haven’t been in the Maritimes for such a long time. A lot of the guys we work with are from that area and promised to show us all the good hangs. Then, we’ll be in Halifax where, a few years back, we won our first Juno ever. Jay, who created the amazing light show that enhances our performance every night lives there and promised us some serious good times that should compete with our post-juno night out. Last time we toured Canada, it was December and it was freezing cold, but this time its summer and we’ll make sure to take advantage of the weather and have tons of fun.
I’m looking forward to experiencing the craziness that we know our Canadian crowds are capable of. It’s also gonna be cool to catch up with fans of ours that we haven’t see in a long time; as you know, we’re always around after the show to say “hi”.
On my birthday, on the 22nd of august, we’ll be in Moncton, NB. When I was little, my family went there on a holiday and I remember the beaches but very little other than that. I can’t wait to be back to visit a little more and refresh my memory. Since it will be my birthday when we’ll be in that city, I’ll take the day off and visit before the show. Needless to say, I will also make sure that we go out after our performance to celebrate a little.
I’ll catch you soon on one of our stops along the Canadian roads. I can’t wait for Simple Plan fans to see what we prepared as a show for them.
